The powers that be would have the argument that if you are a danger to yourself or others then they can step in. I am not a lawyer but I can see where this approach can be abused. One thing I did consider is just the overall stress in a sense of impending doom because of the information being shared with the general public. In turn you would have an increase in alcohol usage couple that with confinement there you have a recipe for disaster considering domestic violence. Just one perspective you don't have to agree 👍
Interesting, scary, sad and a lot in between. I’m in California where lockdown measures were extended longer than much of the rest of the country. My wife and I were fortunate - we both had jobs that allowed us to be home with our kids while they were in school via Zoom. Crazy times for our family but certainly nothing like this. Sad and scary to think were many people, other children in our school, who lost the safety of physically being in school each day.
There is a lot of fallout from the lock downs and we're still a ways off from hitting the long term effects. Think of the children whose formative years were spent masked and on Zoom calls. The stunting of social development is so bad that the CDC pre-emptively changed the development guidelines.
1. I did not support the lock down. I got COVID early, it was not that bad in my case. Better for those with health issues to lock themselves down rather than the entire society, especially the kids. The whole episode, in retrospect, seems strange. Official lies, dissenters censored, rushed vaccines, vaccines were not that effective, some had adverse reactions to vaccines. My body, my choice.
2. I would like to meet Bill Gates. I would like to ask him about his second career--trying to play God of our planet and his buddy Epstein..
Also, getting COVID resulted in superior immunity. And yeah, that must have been maddening for young kids to have to stay inside all day. "Trying to play God" is a perfect phrase for the "anti-COVID measures."
My kids had been homeschooled for 5 years, we have over an acre and the beach. It was more socialization. Sea was excited to start high school and it went to shit. Even when he could go, it was absurdly bad. I was glad to be in NC where people did not go as crazy. When I had to go to elite places like LA for work, people were nuts about masks and vaccine certifications to get in stores and restaurants. COVID was yet another non oppositional ideology. If you raised questions you were considered bad or a.....drum roll...."conspiracy theorist."
Oh good, I'm glad your kids had space to go outside. The lack of socialization couldn't have been easy. Yeah, the dogma and virtue signaling were insane.

I appreciate your perspective, ZenWithAPen!

So true, Matt. P.S. I was born and raised in California!
Right on! I’m not from here originally but after near 20 years, for me, it’s as much home as a place will ever be.

So true. :( We must never make this mistake again.
